computer generated graphic - how the wind farm will look from a nearby hill Black Oak Wind Farm LLC is a newly formed company which is developing a ~20 MW wind farm in western Tompkins County NY. We are dedicated to community involvement at every level. We have purchased the development rights from Enfield Energy for the same project they began development on in 2006. We plan to be under construction in 2013.
The site for the Black Oak Wind Farm was chosen because it is the windiest place in the county, and because it already has a high-voltage transmission line crossing the site, making a grid tie-in feasible. We are working to source the construction and operations managers from our region. The Board of Managers is made up of New Yorkers, the majority of whom live in Tompkins County. Currently our project manager, Marguerite Wells, lives and works on the project from her farm in Enfield, Tompkins County. She can see the future project site from her living room window.
